My view on single use bags and the government money grab!
I reside in California and as a fallout from the last election, we now are charged for the bags we receive at check out. I know much of the state has done this for some time now, but this new policy is new to me and now I must adjust my ways. I do understand the perceived intent to sell this policy but what appears to be true is not always the case.
The new law in California is to charge you 10 cents per bag at the checkout. Now the store has to supply the bag, but the money hungry government gets the cash. This new law is nothing more than another way for the State of California to get your hard earned money. They don’t even have to supply the bag but will make the store give them the money they collect for the purchase. If the intent is to discourage the use of bags that is one thing, but then the store supplying the product should get to keep the money. But the intent is not to discourage but to TAX.
If you want to feel good about saving the planet and bring your own bags to the store you should have the right to do so. America is suppose to be about freedom and tolerance but the people who preach this the most are the ones with the least tolerance to others who have a differing opinion. I do believe a store should be able to supply a bag to it’s customers if it chooses and the government should stay out of it. They need not be required to, but the choice should be the stores and the stores alone. let’s stop controlling how we choose to live.
As for me, I do not want to reuse bags and the choice to do so should be mine. I think once a bag has had product in it, the bag should be discarded or reused for another purpose like a trash bag. To reuse a bag that has been exposed to salmonella, botulism, bacteria, heavy metals, and chemicals is utter madness. Would you really use your bag to go the paint store and then use the same bag to transport your veggies? How about the leaky package of chicken wings? Now you could wash the bag after every use, but with water in short supply in California, how is this environmentally friendly. If you want to live life on the edge and risk your health and safety go for it, but don’t ask me to do so.
Unfortunately for me, since it is now law, I must adjust. I now must provide my own single use bags and the answer to my problem was solved by Amazon. I was able to purchase 1,000 bags for $15 and they delivered it to my house. That is 1.5 cents per bag and the money goes to a company providing jobs to people not the State taking cash out of their pockets. You go ahead and risk your health and waste water, but my bags will end up at a transfer station to be recycled!
The World According to Jeff-

You are going to have so much fun with your single use bags. I can see the smirk on your face now.

Dear Jeff,
This is not the first time i have contacted you regarding your expressive opinion online. I have mentioned before I am with the internet police and I am also your son. It is unacceptable that you are disregarding the Californian government like that. I disagree with you and I will deal with it the only way I know how. I will throw a fit and send a swat team to your house. Please shut down this blog before I have to take further action. Thank you for your time.
P.S. This is fake.
